About two dozen filmmakers signed an open letter in defense of the actor Valery Grishko, who played in the film “Leviathan” by the bishop.
Deputies of the Samara Region and local cultural workers are up in arms against the actor. The fact is that Grishko is the main director of the Samara Drama Theater. Critics of the actor said that, working in the state theater, he allows himself to mock the ROC, acting in a film that defames Russia.

The director of Leviathan, Andrei Zvyagintsev, as well as Valery Todorovsky, Andrei Smirnov, Alexander Rodnyansky and other figures of Russian cinema appealed to the governor of the Samara region Nikolai Merkushkin, demanding to stop the threats against Grishko. Cinematographers say that people who are dissatisfied with what the Samara director allegedly did “demonstrate ignorance of the laws, norms of law and the Constitution of the Russian Federation, calling for the actor to be extrajudicially prosecuted for his role.”
The editors of uznayvse.ru remind that the film “Leviathan” was among the films claiming to be the Oscar.
