Why do children in the womb hiccup? Versions and assumptions
Everyone knows this unpleasant phenomenon, such as hiccups, not by hearsay. But in the meantime, not only adults are exposed to it, but also babies that have not yet appeared. To notice this is very simple: the mummy's tummy starts to tremble as if from something. In some women this happens infrequently - just a couple of times a week, while others face warning signs several times a day from 3-5 minutes to half an hour. Why do children in the womb hiccup?
In fact, this question is still poorly understood by experts, and therefore all possible reasons are merely theoretical assumptions.
It is believed that one of the reasons why children are hiccup in the womb is hypoxia of the fetus, in other words, lack of oxygen. However, it is impossible to believe that hiccups are one of the key symptoms of hypoxia.
Intrauterine hypoxia can cause a number of disorders and abnormalities in the development of the baby. It is diagnosed only after special examinations: ultrasound (it allows to see the placenta condition and analyze the blood flow between the mother and fetus organisms), as well as cardiotocography (measurements of uterus and heartbeat activity).
Nevertheless, in practice it is often the case that newborns who have hiccuped before birth are born completely healthy and without any signs of hypoxia.
Another possible answer to the question of why children are hiccuping in the womb is excessive drinking of amniotic fluid. It has long been known that while in the maternal tummy, babies regularly perform swallowing movements. Due to this, a large amount of liquid can accumulate in the stomach of the fetus. Hiccup is a kind of protective reflex to get rid of all that is superfluous. There is an opinion that especially actively children begin to swallow the water, if Mom will eat a lot of sweet.
Why do children in the womb hiccup? Some scientists believe that this is due to the pinching of the vagus nerve. The nerve gives alarm signals to the brain, the same, in turn, gives the diaphragm a command to contract to release the nerve. And the hiccup is obtained by the fact that the air jerks out of the lungs through a closed vocal chink.
According to some experts who study why children hiccup in the womb, this is a good sign, saying that the formation of the central nervous system in the baby's body has ended. That is, the crumb from this time is able to control the processes of this type, and therefore hiccups appear from time to time - an occasion for joy!
Some researchers follow a different theory. In their opinion, hiccup is something like a "test run" of the respiratory apparatus, as well as a kind of preparation for sucking. That is, babies, while still in amniotic fluid, learn to breathe and use a diaphragm in these exercises. There is even the opinion that those babies that often hiccup while in the maternal tummy breathe well and suck their breasts.
Do children in the womb hiccup? Of course yes! The best way to get rid of unpleasant symptoms is to change the position of the body, perform a couple of simple physical exercises or go for a walk in the fresh air. And to finally dispel all suspicions, it is best to go to the examination to a doctor who monitors the course of pregnancy.
