What is gross?
Every person at least once in his life came across the concept of "gross". Some people do not understand what it means. So what is gross?
The word "gross" comes from the Italian brutto, which translated into Russian means "bad." Most often this term is used in the designation of the weight of the goods. What could be wrong in weight? Weight is considered "bad" when it is not a reference to the net weight of the product itself, but its mass, together with the packaging or packaging. They also talk about gross income when they mean that the total income received also contains unseparated costs.
Why do you need to know the gross weight? Of course, consumers are interested in information about the net weight of the goods (this weight is called net), which they can directly use for their needs. Gross weight is important mainly for manufacturers and carriers. After all, it is impossible to transport goods to the place of sale without packaging. But in order to organize such transportation, it is necessary to proceed from the total weight of the cargo.
So, gross is the mass of the goods together with the container and packaging.
