Perfectionist: who is this?

Perfectionist: the meaning of the term

perfectionist - who is this? Some people ask: perfectionist - who is this? To do this, it is necessary to define one more concept: perfectionism (perfection - perfection) is the sharpened striving for the perfection of man in all his actions and behavior, created by education and the environment. Accordingly, a perfectionist is a person who is characterized by perfectionism. He is convinced of the possibility and necessity of achieving perfection primarily in relation to himself. Many psychologists, however, believe that perfectionism is not at all a virtue, but a serious personal problem that forms an underestimated self-esteem of the individual, and also has a negative impact on the results of his activities. A perfectionist does not see the "golden mean", he has only two extremes: the worst and the best is his ideal. He does not see a gray color, for him there is only black and white. For him, there is only an "ideal" and "not an ideal", and "everything is ideal" is not only the ideal. In other words, he strives to do everything perfectly, better than others, or do nothing at all, and he is completely sure of it. He considers a request for help with weakness.

Perfectionists are sensitive to public opinion. They are affected by any criticism. Perfectionists try to hide their shortcomings from others. They are afraid to expose their weaknesses. Therefore, they do everything that depends on them in order to become perfect. Failure or failure shows them that they can not improve themselves. As a consequence, they feel useless, and their self-esteem falls.

And what if perfectionism is not alwaysa vice? Imagine what the world would be without the great works of world literature, painting, architecture, without great and wonderful composers? Let's take a look at this from a different point of view. Perfectionist - who is this? He is a man of creativity, a creator, a creator. The creator simply has to be a perfectionist, otherwise the writer who creates his work can give up and say, writing at the first attempt: "it will come off that way" or "and so it is normal". Could we really read Faust, The Cathedral of the Parisian Mother of God, if Goethe and Hugo were not perfectionists? Could we contemplate the Mona Lisa and now, if Da Vinci decided not to perfect the image of the smile of the above lady?

We would not have heard the "Seasons" ifVivaldi, when studying violin, said: "I will not work out the game, and so it's normal." Thus, perfectionism is good only in some areas of our life, which really require an ideal to which one should strive. However, in an ordinary life it is very difficult to achieve an ideal, for the society in which we live is far from ideal.
