    Before the revolution, the Russian alphabet numbered 35,123 and not 33 letters, as it is now. It consisted of the following letters:

    As you can see, the alphabet consisted of 4 abolished letters i, #1123 ;, #1139 ;, #1141 ;, but there were no letters and d. Interestingly, the letter #1141; was not officially abolished, in the decree on the reform of spelling there is no mention of it.

    Writing was not formally included in the alphabet, 4 but used exactly the same as now. The writing of d was also called brief.
