US GOP senator Lindsay Graham calls on American sports organizations to boycott the Olympic Games, which will be held next year in Sochi. The reason is Edward Snowden.
Senator Graham, however, has yet to find supporters in this venture. As practice has shown, it will not be easy - neither the representatives of the democratic forces of the country, nor the Republican colleagues agree with him. A frantic Russophobe, John McCain, for example, said he did not think, “that the recent experience of canceling the Olympics was good.”
He added that if the Kremlin takes Edward Snowden on its territory, the US authorities "can do a lot." What, specifically, McCain, however, did not specify.
McCain and Graham's senior colleague on the Republican Party, Bob Corker, did not at all show even the slightest concern about the situation around Snowden. He stated that he did not consider it necessary to increase tension in Russian-American relations.“I don’t want to increase hostility (in bilateral relations),” said the representative of the US Foreign Affairs Committee.
As it became known just now, Graham’s statement in Russia was treated with “calm skepticism”.
